TOUR TO THE NATIONAL CIVIL WAR MUSEUM
IN
HARRISBURG

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

Civil War MuseumThe Bedford County Historical Society is sponsoring a bus tour to the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. The bus will depart the Bedford Walmart parking lot at 8:00 am. We will tour the museum beginning at 10:00 am, with an allowance of 4 hours to view the exhibits. We will depart for a late lunch (you are responsible for your meal) at a buffet, Fire Mountain, at 2:00 pm, and should return to Bedford around 5:30 pm. You may pack a snack to eat on the bus on the way to the museum if you like.

The National Civil War Museum is the only museum in the United States that portrays the entire story of the American Civil War. Equally balanced presentations are humanistic in nature without bias to Union or Confederate causes. Experience a multitude of human drama that made up the war, from slavery to camp life, to the turmoil of 19th century politics. The Museum will immerse you in the time period, with equal emphasis on both sides. There is a special exhibit focusing on 1861 that highlights the events, battles, and people of 1861, in recognition of the Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War.

Please note that video cameras, cell phones, food and/or drinks are prohibited in the exhibit areas. The museum does allow cameras with the flash turned off. Vending areas are available for your convenience.

As of October 28, we have ONLY 9 SEATS left on the bus for this tour. To make reservations or for more information, contact the Society at the phone number or email above. The cost is $45.00 for members and $50 for non-members; the fee includes bus and admissions costs. You are responsible for all meals. Payment is due when making reservations.
