Our Mission

The mission of the Bedford County Historical Society is to preserve, protect and document the history of Bedford County for future generations, as well as educate the public concerning the same.

Hours of Operation

  • January through March
  • Tuesday through Friday - Open from 9 am to 4 pm
  • Saturday, Sunday, and Monday - Closed
  • April through December
  • Tuesday through Friday - Open from 9 am to 4 pm
  • 3rd Saturday of each month - Open from 9 am to 2 pm
  • Other Saturdays and Sunday - Closed

We are closed on major holidays and sometimes for a day or two before or after the holiday. Exceptions to normal hours will be posted on our Home page.

During bad weather, the Society will also be closed. Please call, (814)623-2011, before visiting to avoid disappointments.


Directions to the Bedford County Historical Society

Since August 10, 2009, we have been housed in our new home in an historic "bank" barn, situated next to a log house on the Lincoln Highway. Our address is 6441 Lincoln Highway, Bedford, on U.S. 30 about four miles west from the center of Bedford Borough and about 3/4 mile east of the Jean Bonnet Tavern.
